BIRMINGHAM, U.K. | DUBAI, ABU DHABI, U.A.E | CAIRO, EGYPT | KINGDOM of BAHRAIN | RABAT, MOROCCO
My career began in England as a quantity surveyor, working for the construction cost consultants Faithful+Gould and Franklin & Andrews. 7 years later, in 2006, I moved to the Middle East, where I worked in the U.A.E, Egypt, Bahrain and Morocco, for the developers Dubai Festival City and Emaar International, the cost consultancy Turner and Townsend, the Interior Design Division of G.P. Zachariades, and Decovar Orient, a multi-disciplinary interior design studio run by the Bahraini Royal Court. In these roles, I was responsible for the cost and commercial management of various master developments, 5* hotels and residences, including the W Hotel, a 5* luxury waterfront development at Dubai Creek, Sama Dubai’s Creekfront development, and the Abu Dhabi Golf Club Hotel and Residences. My love for glamorous, high quality residential and hospitality interior design truly began whilst working with Decovar Orient and G.P. Zachariades, exclusively on the interior design, cost and project management of private residences and hotels for VVIP clients in Bahrain, U.A.E. and Morocco.
In 2018, following the death of my father, and subsequently my mother becoming ill, I returned to England. My life literally turned upside down overnight, and this period is one I can only describe as the dark night of the soul. I took stock of the direction I wished my career to take and realised that I no longed wished to be beholden to others. I craved flexibility and autonomy, and so it is, in 2019, the holistically driven, multi-disciplinary, luxury interior design studio, L’atelier Kauldhar was founded.
